When we think of human trafficking we typically think of a fictional movie such as Traffic or Taken. The truth is that human trafficking is a huge problem and one that really needs to be addressed. Many anti trafficking organizations are being formed across the globe to handle this crisis. Here are some of the things human traffickers do.
One of the largest problems with human trafficking is for organ sales. Many of these human traffickers will seek out the vulnerable, the poor and desperate and offer them money in exchange for their organs. They will then take their organs and leave them for dead on the side of the road or even allow them to die during the procedures. These traffickers will then take the organs and sell them anywhere from ten thousand to three hundred thousand dollars.
The sex trade in many countries is running ramped. Young children from age eleven to eighteen are being taken and sold off as se slaves. They are kept in inhuman conditions, given drugs to keep them docile and when they are no longer of use left to die in filthy and deplorable conditions.
The internet plays a large role in trafficking. Sites like The Silk Road were used on what is known as the Dark Web to lure and groom youngsters into running away from home and getting caught up in these illegal practices. The internet also makes it very difficult for police and law enforcements to find and prosecute these traffickers. With the net you can be anyone and be anywhere. Even though new technologies are being developed and laws enacted these traffickers are smart and will eventually find a way around whatever barriers we put up. Education and awareness are our best tools in fighting traffickers.
